A house with history and heart.

Bella Posta is a place shaped over centuries. Two houses, many names, and even more stories. And people who have left their mark on the town and on the spirit of hospitality. Welcome to our story.

Two houses, one feeling of home

Anyone arriving at the Bella Posta Hotel today will notice it right away: this place has character. Or rather, two places – the main house, formerly known as “Post”, and the former Villa Victoria, now our dependance. For a long time, their stories unfolded separately. At some point they came together and now jointly define what Bella Posta is today. A story of passion.
The main house

From Unterhofer to Hotel Post

The roots of today’s main house reach far back into the past. It is believed that as early as 1565 the Unterhofer farmstead stood here, with a farmhouse and barn. No written records from that time remain, but later sources show clearly that life here was shaped by agriculture for many years.

In the 19th century, the character of the house slowly began to change. The farm evolved into an inn, open to travellers and locals alike. In 1871, the Unterhofer-Wirthsbehausung is mentioned for the first time. Just a few years later, the name Hofer appears – marking the step from farm to guesthouse.
A true milestone followed in 1907: after a renovation, the Gasthof Hofer reopened – modern for its time, with guest rooms, comfort, and a forward-looking spirit. In the same year, an Austro-Hungarian post office with telegraph moved into the building. The foundation for the later name “Post” had been laid.
From 1911 onward, the house was run by the Friedl family. As Hotel Friedl, it became a popular meeting place for summer visitors and winter guests. This was about more than rooms and meals – it was about genuine hospitality. And about relationships: the Friedl family shared a close friendship with Hans and Mizi Holzner, the first generation of the Holzner family on Ritten. A friendship that might not have seemed historic at the time, but would later gain special significance.
After eventful years, the house was given a new direction. From 1934, Karl Lang is documented as the owner, and in 1949 the name “Post” became a permanent part of the house’s identity.
The dependance

From Doppelbauer to Victoria

Meanwhile, the second building was writing its own story. Today’s dependance was first known as the Doppelbauer inn, later as Albergo Vittoria, and eventually as Villa – or Hotel – Victoria. It was always a place for guests: full of charm, a little independent, a little elegant, and unmistakably Ritten.
Hotel Post-Victoria

Two become one

Through the marriage of Karl Lang to the aunt of later owner Erwin Mayr, the main house and the dependance were united. From then on, the business operated as Hotel Post-Victoria – two houses, one name, and a shared understanding of what it means to be guests and hosts.

Until the 1990s, Erwin Mayr personally managed the hotel, followed by a longer period of leasing. The house remained – the story waited.
Bella Posta

A new beginning with deep roots

With the Holzner family, a new chapter began in 2025. First, the dependance reopened as Bella Posta Apartments. One year later, the fully renovated main house will follow. From 2026 onward, both buildings will once again be run together – as the Bella Posta Hotel.

That the Holzner family is continuing this house is no coincidence. The old friendship between the Friedl family and Hans and Mizi Holzner lives on here in a quiet, beautiful way. Not as nostalgia, but as an attitude: open, warm, and uncomplicated.
